After a long 2012, in which we covered a lot of ground, we entered 2013. And, the first month is already over. All in all the month was a good one, we have had a decent start and have some great plans for rest of 2013, for which we will need support from all our patrons, and yes that is you.

Jan 6, 2013: We started 2013 with Rang De Bangalore Volunteer Meet at Cubbon Park this time. The event witnessed a decent turnout with a mix of some new and returning faces. Asha briefed us about what are we trying to achieve this year as a group and what will be our focus areas. We also discussed about how each one of us can contribute more to the cause. There had been a lot of discussion on our Google group about us, as group lacking the fun element. This came up in our volunteer meet as well and everyone contributed interesting ideas to make our work and meetings more interesting.
Jan 20, 2013: The next event that we did was 'Rang De Master Chefs - With Monika Manchanda' and it was an absolute hit. The event was organized at 'Tangerine', which is a fantastic restaurant. We were divided into three teams and Monika provided us three different recipes to prepare. The restaurant opened its kitchen for us and allowed us to use its Pizza oven. I was in the team that was working on 'Brownie Fudge' and my team was the first to finish preparatory part and kept the brownie inside the beach oven for baking, only to find it burning after 15 minutes. The restaurant staff was quite accommodating and allowed us to use the other oven for baking whose temperature control was easy for us to use. We redid the whole recipe and the hard work finally payed off as all the recipes turned out to be quite good.  All in all it was a great team building activity, we learned a lot of things about cooking and baking and got the chance to see the creative side of other volunteers. We should thank Preethi for being so fast in executing all that we planned. The good thing is that I am still getting inquiry calls about when are we next organizing it.
Jan 26, 2013: We participated in the 'Second to none flea market' this time with our own stall in it. We met a lot of people and explained them about how Rang De works. Some of them new about Kiva but had not heard about Rang De. A lot of them were quite excited to know about Rang De and pledged to become a social investor that day itself. With Rang De turning five that day it was an enthusiastic day for us. It felt even more good when the visitors patted us for doing the good work. That made me think that we probably need more presence in such flea markets. It is a nice way to talk to a lot of people and the market itself is quite fun.
Well that was all about eventful January. We have a few events lined up for February already such as 'Freedom Walk' and 'Field Trips'. If you would like to get regular updates on our events then please add our event calendar  to your Google calendar. I would like to end this post with a quote "I may not be there yet, but I am more closer to it than I yesterday was".
